"Each moment of the year has its own beauty; a picture which was never before and shall never be seen again."
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
The weekend started with a sick kid tucked in bed with me, a bucket snuggled in close by. Our plans instantly changed. As the morning hours ticked by, Spencer felt better, and we resumed enjoying the summer-like weather. Our Saturday plans rolled into Sunday instead, and we set off to the apple orchard--one of our most beloved fall activities. The weather definitely cooperated this year, the sun smiling down on the landscape ripe with the change of seasons.
A field of sunflowers and pumpkins lead us into the farm, welcoming us to the array of activities provided before finally hitching a ride up the hill to pick apples. We nibbled our way through the rows and rows of apple trees, searching for the perfect ones. With a heavy bag, we headed back down to buy treats and pick out some pumpkins to bring home.
I almost want to hit rewind just so we can redo it instead of having to wait a full year to go again. We're patiently waiting for our other fall favorite activities: playing in the leaves, carving Jack O' Laterns, Halloween, apple cider. For now, we'll watch as the leaves slowly change and munch on all the apples we collected at the orchard.
