Besides marveling in the unexpectedly warm weather, we focused our attention on learning about the letter I. We started by making the letters for their bedroom doors: iguana Is. Then we scoured YouTube to learn more about the reptile.
One night after supper we made our own dessert: homemade ice cream in a bag. This was really simple, except it does require an excessive amount of shaking. My boys grew tired of it after about 30 seconds, so I did most the shaking. My frozen fingers and tired arms were relieved when the texture finally hardened enough to call it ice cream. I thought it looked, felt and tasted funny, but the boys loved it! I topped it with chocolate syrup and orange sprinkles and they enjoyed the fruit of their (or mostly my) labor.
1. Fill a big bag with ice. Fill a smaller one with all the ingredients. Place little inside big.
2. Shake, shake, shake!
3. Devour.
While Spencer was at preschool one day, Ashton and I did a shapes and color activity, sticking to the ice cream theme. I'm constantly amazed by how smart he really is. He knows most shapes and colors, although he likes to pretend otherwise sometimes. Spencer even joined in the fun later in the week.

The one rainy, crummy day this week we hunkered down inside our house and baked pumpkin cookies with cream cheese frosting. Most definitely kid (and mommy!) approved.

*sidenote: Despite the nice weather, it's been a really lazy week. Most days we didn't even get out of our jammies, even if we wore them a few days in a row. So I realize it would seem most of the above activities occurred in a single day since Spencer is dressed in the same space pjs, but this post spanned an entire week.
